SENIOR WEB DESIGNER

Senior Web Designer

Description

Infobase Learning is looking for highly motivated and skilled Designer to join our digital products team. The designer will work with product team to conceptualize, design, and maintain product interfaces and overall user experience for Infobase’s portfolio of web and software applications serving the education and library communities. The Designer will be responsible for design of the end-to-end user experience, including user workflows, layouts, photoshop mockups of specific screens and/or components.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain and manage UX/UI best practices with all products

• Create detailed mockups of designs that can be used by the development team to code user facing functionality

• Create wireframes and define user flows

• Manage and support the creation of design assets for site development

• Collaborate with the Product and Editorial team to establish visual design systems

• Build consensus around strategic design choices through design reviews and presentations

• Redesign and improve all product design

 Requirements:

• Solid understanding of grid-based design, layout, typography, color and other design principles

• A current portfolio demonstrating strong user interface and visual design work

• Expertise with Photoshop, Fireworks, or similar tools.

• Ability to work well in a highly collaborative environment and take lead on some projects

• Contribute to multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines

• Understanding of HTML, CSS, and browser capabilities (ability to code designs a plus)

• Experience with designing for touch and/or mobile interfaces is a plus

Leader in digital educational reference materials seeks smart, web-savvy individual to work on online educational materials, online databases, and eBooks, in subjects such as science, health, geography, literature, history. The ideal candidate will be well informed on trends in the online world and educational market.

 Responsibilities include:

  • Writing specs for file conversion and OCR, performing QC on converted files;
  • preparing data and content for ingest into content management systems;
  • performing QC on migrated data;
  • batch processing image files;
  • adding meta-data; copy-editing and proofreading;
  • updating data tables;
  • supervising freelancers;
  • working with other project managers to maintain consistent procedures; testing and trouble-shooting;
  • handling some department administrative tasks.

Must have bachelor’s degree or higher; knowledge of basic HTML, Adobe Acrobat, and Photoshop; minimum 1-3 years online experience. Must be detail oriented, able to multitask, function well under pressure, and have strong communications skills. Experience with a CMS, XML, FileMaker Pro, Access, and/or other database a plus. CONFERENCE COORDINATOR

Conference Coordinator

Description

We are seeking a coordinator to work alongside our conference manager in our New York office. The primary responsibilities are: assisting with logistics for participation at trade shows and coordinating annual career fair.

Responsibilities include ordering conference services, researching venues for client  events, booking travel for sales teams, handling internal creative requests, collecting and shipping of conference materials, providing on-site meeting assistance at annual career fair, and basic administrative tasks such as filing and faxing.  Candidates must be detail-oriented, organized, and have the ability to travel domestically if needed.

The Designer will be responsible for design of the end-to-end user experience, including user workflows, layouts, photoshop mockups of specific screens and/or components.

  • Manage UX/UI best practices with all products
  • Code and implement WordPress sites from Photoshop layout through html/CSS to a custom theme, functions, and plugins
  • Design and implement new features, enhancements, and content of existing websites
  • Maintain and create detailed mockups of designs that can be used by the development team to code user facing functionality
  • Create wireframes and define user flows
  • Manage and support the creation of design assets for site development
  • Collaborate with the Product and Editorial team to establish visual design systems
  • Build consensus around strategic design choices through design reviews and presentations
  • Redesign and improve all product design

Requirements:

  • Experience in customizing and implementing WordPress
  • Strong knowledge of current web development languages (including HTML5, CSS3, PHP/MySQL)Solid understanding of grid-based design, layout, typography, color and other design principles
