Who Are We Missing? Diversity Audits to Assess Academic Library Collections

Session One: The Diversity Audit: Planning & Processes

Is your institution preparing for a DEI audit of your library collections? Looking for insights into how to begin approaching such a large project? This two-part webinar series covers the before and after of a successful DEI collection audit, featuring two college librarians who have just completed one.

María Evelia Emerson and Lauryn Lehman discuss the use of audits as a tool for assessing diversity and inclusion within library collections. Having recently completed an audit at Augustana College in Illinois, María and Lauryn will present on their planning, processes, and assessment of their audit experience.

In this first session, we will strive to provide an overview of diversity audit processes, including:

  • How and why libraries choose to undertake collection diversity audits;
  • How libraries can adapt diversity audits to fit their unique collections;
  • How to avoid potential challenges and pitfalls while conducting an audit;
  • and much more!
