A Look Back at ALA Annual Orlando

Looking back to a busy and productive ALA Annual in Orlando! Booth #935 was bustling with hundreds of librarians and educators—school, academic, and public. We loved getting to connect with key personnel from all parts of the education community.

Some of the many schools and libraries we were glad stopped by were Polk County Schools, Virginia Beach City Schools, University of Manitoba Libraries, University of Tennessee Library, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Denver Public Library, Collier County Public Schools, Multnomah County Library, and NYC Department of Education/NYC School Library System.

Prizes and giveaways were big draws. Our raffle prize was a Fitbit Charge and a free 1-year subscription to our new and improved Health Reference Center. Many people became winners from our scratch-off games, with prizes including a $100 American Express gift card, and spinning our prize wheel was a fun way for ALA attendees to try to win a Kindle Fire HD and other prizes.

As the engraved chocolate bars we gave away at the booth made clear, this year marks Infobase’s 75th anniversary of service to educators! ALA Annual gave us a great chance to show firsthand how we are continuing our long tradition of providing exceptional, proprietary, curated content in new and exciting ways. Flipped classrooms, blended learning, and other teaching strategies were hot topics, and our staff demonstrated to customers how our online resources can aid in meeting those educational objectives. We noted particular interest from booth visitors in our recently relaunched Health Reference Center database and our new streaming video collections, and we spotlighted the extensive (and timely!) election-related content in many of our products. Our booth staff set up many free trials.

We’re already looking forward to our next show—see you all soon!
