Infobase Announces Acquisition of Credo Reference Limited

New York, NY, December 5, 2018—Infobase announced today that it has acquired Credo Reference. Founded in 1999, Credo Reference is a leading provider of innovative research platforms and information literacy instructional materials serving libraries worldwide. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

“This is exciting news and a significant milestone for Infobase,” said Mark McDonnell, president and CEO of Infobase Holdings, “because it brings another strong name in the reference category under the Infobase umbrella. The obvious synergies between the two companies will benefit both sides and improve our offerings, particularly in the academic market.”

Credo Reference is an award-winning reference and information literacy solutions provider that serves libraries worldwide. Credo’s Online Reference Service (CORS) platform enables the flexible configuration of content, technology, and discovery services for the purpose of connecting learners, faculty, librarians, and publishers. Credo is also a leader in the First Year Experience (FYE) space and has recently introduced information literacy modules to help libraries support students arriving on campus as they acclimate to the rigors of academic research.

“Credo’s products include the best reference content from the best reference publishers,” added Mark McDonnell. “We would like to maintain this diversity of sources—what we view as one of their key strengths.”

“Credo views this acquisition as a chance to reach even more learners and contribute to a strong culture of information literacy extending all the way from middle school through higher education and beyond,” said Credo Reference General Manager Ian Singer. “Infobase’s reach in the secondary school market in particular creates tremendous synergies, and its content fits nicely into Credo’s library instruction framework. We’re excited to be part of Infobase.”
